The fiasco that is the war in Iraq, and the inept response to hurricane Katrina, are not so much due to the incomprehensible scope of these two avoidable disasters as they are to the “management style” of President Bush.  Here we have a man who never held a real job in his life -- who has absolutely no expertise in any field, and who, therefore, has no clue what constitutes competency on any level -- in charge of hiring the people who run our government.   George W. Bush must believe that because he was selected President of the United States -- without any experience or talent, and with questionable intellectual ability -- other equally unqualified people can handle the less important tasks of government, like managing FEMA.   Was it a surprise that he said the former head of FEMA was doing “a heck of a job” after Katrina?  Was it a surprise that in 2004 he awarded Medals of Freedom to the Director of the CIA for his work with 9/11, and to the American administrator of Iraq, for his work with the post-invasion plans?  Is it a surprise, now, that he thinks his former personal lawyer is the most qualified person in America to be on the Supreme Court?   I only wish that I too was a neo-conservative, boot-licking friend of the President --  I’d have all the necessary qualifications to help him, Cheney, and Halliburton run this country ----- into the ground.
